Pelvic Health

Pelvic floor dysfunction and pain is unfortunately very common, with many people suffering in silence, or simply not understanding the symptoms of pelvic dysfunction.

Pelvic pain and dysfunction can look very different for everyone and can include:

  • Hip, sacrum, coccyx or pubic pain

  • Low back pain

  • Pregnancy related pelvic girdle pain

  • Urinary or faecal incontinence and urgency

  • Constipation and/or pain passing a bowel motion

  • Pain with sex

  • Painful periods

  • Bladder Pain Syndrome, or pain passing urine

  • Vulvodynia and vaginismus

  • Pain with tampon insertion

Whilst many people associate pelvic health concerns with pregnancy and the post-partum period, it is important to understand that people of all ages, in all stages of life may be impacted with pelvic pain or dysfunction.

Our osteopath Dr Sarah Cossar holds a Master’s degree in Women’s Health Medicine as well as being trained in Osteopathic specific Pelvic Health and Pregnancy assessment. Sarah’s assessment encompasses a whole-body approach, looking not only at the pelvic floor, but the whole body, and how this integrates with the pelvis and your symptoms.

Sarah has trained with pelvic osteopaths from all over Australia and is qualified in internal pelvic assessment, pregnancy and birth preparation. This training is Osteopathy Australia endorsed.
