DR JOSHUA SAXTON

Osteopath & Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Dr Joshua Saxton is an Adelaide-based osteopath with a strong background in both hands-on manual therapy and exercise-based rehabilitation. He is also an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, allowing him to bridge the gap between treatment and performance-focused rehab.

Josh works with people from all walks of life and at all stages of health, from high-level gym athletes and combat sports competitors through to office workers, parents, and older adults simply wanting to move with less pain and more confidence.

His treatment philosophy is built around a simple three-stage framework:

Reset. Retrain. Reload.

First, pain and movement restrictions are addressed through hands-on osteopathic treatment. Then, movement patterns are retrained with targeted rehabilitation and exercise. Finally, strength, resilience, and confidence are rebuilt so patients can return to training, sport, work, and life with less fear of reinjury.

Josh has a particular interest in:

  • Neck and upper back pain

  • Low back and hip issues

  • Sports injuries and gym-based rehabilitation

  • Combat sports injuries and conditioning support

With a long personal history in sport, Josh brings real-world understanding to both injury and performance. He is a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a black belt in Judo, and regularly trains in CrossFit and strength-based programs. This hands-on experience allows him to understand not only how injuries occur, but how athletes actually train, compete, and push their limits.

Josh believes that patients are active participants in their recovery, not passive recipients of treatment. His role is to remove barriers, guide the process, and help people build systems that keep them moving well long after their pain settles.

His sessions are known for being focused, practical, and supportive, with plenty of education along the way. Patients often describe Josh as direct, encouraging, and easy to talk to, someone who takes their training and their health seriously without taking himself too seriously.

When he’s not in the clinic, Josh is usually found on the mats, under a barbell, or spending time outdoors with his partner Rosalind, their daughter Evie, and their two dogs. His own training and injury history continue to shape how he treats, coaches, and connects with the people he works with every day.
